Donald Trump

Mary, last week, Donald Trump was convicted of 34 counts of falsifying business records. Despite his status as a felon, Trump can still run for the highest office in the land – President of the United States. Petition starter Nikki can't help but see the irony. A huge number of felons face discrimination when seeking employment due to mandatory disclosure of their criminal history on job applications. Sign if you agree that it's time to reconsider how we treat people who have paid their debt to society.

If Donald Trump can run for president, the highest office in this country as a convicted felon with 34 guilty counts, we as a nation must reconsider how we treat people who have paid their debt to society. Many individuals who have served their time continue to face discrimination when seeking employment due to mandatory disclosure of their criminal history on job applications. This practice hinders rehabilitation and reintegration into society.

According to the National Employment Law Project, nearly one-third of American adults have a criminal record. Excluding sex offenders, removing these questions from applications would provide millions with fairer opportunities for employment and reduce recidivism rates by promoting stable livelihoods.

Sign this petition to urge lawmakers and employers to remove felon questions from job applications (excluding sex offenders) and support the reintegration of rehabilitated individuals into our workforce.
