Support U.S. Army Rangers: Fight for Safe Living Conditions
As an active-duty U.S. Army Ranger, I am speaking out about a dire issue affecting our health and well-being. Our barracks are infested with severe black mold, a problem well known to leadership but persistently ignored. Instead of addressing the root cause, leadership has worsened the situation by sealing our barracks' windows to prevent suicides, inadvertently creating an environment where black mold thrives.
Black mold exposure is scientifically proven to cause a range of health problems, including:
• Chronic upper respiratory issues (coughing, wheezing, and throat irritation)
• Bronchitis and persistent sinus infections
• Skin rashes and irritation
• Chronic fatigue and headaches
• Memory problems and brain fog
• Weakened immune systems, leaving us vulnerable to infections like Epstein-Barr virus (EBV)
Many of us are experiencing these symptoms daily, and the long-term effects are devastating. There are growing concerns about links to conditions like EBV, which thrives in individuals with compromised immunity. To make matters worse, Army doctors are attempting to scare soldiers into removing their tonsils and thyroids by claiming these issues are related to cancer. In reality, it's EBV taking hold because our immune systems are shot from constant exposure to black mold. Rather than addressing the root cause, leadership blames our health problems on genetics or other excuses, leaving us without real solutions.
We are not asking for luxury—we just want our health and dignity back. It's disheartening to see our concerns dismissed or minimized. Some of us are so desperate for safe living conditions that we are considering starting a GoFundMe to buy our own housing, as this might be the only way to protect ourselves and our fellow Rangers from further harm.
Meanwhile, the Army's misplaced priorities are frustrating. For example, the renaming of military bases honoring Confederate leaders was estimated to cost $62.5 million, yet mold remediation and improving living conditions for service members continue to be overlooked. For Rangers willing to make the ultimate sacrifice for this country, is it too much to ask for safe housing, fair compensation, and basic health protections?
Adding to our frustration, I was unable to vote in both the 2020 and 2024 elections because the Army made it nearly impossible. We were also told that voicing support for any political candidate was not allowed. For those of us who serve this nation and defend its values, it is disheartening to feel silenced and powerless, especially as we watch America face so many challenges.
It's heartbreaking to see how far our nation has fallen. The left, rather than honoring those who serve, often seems to harbor hatred toward us, labeling us unfairly and sowing division. While we are prepared to give everything for this country, it feels like many have forgotten us and the values we fight to uphold. What happened to the America we love and believe in?
We are calling on public figures like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Donald Trump to step in and help us. Your voices have the power to shine a spotlight on this crisis and demand immediate action. Please, save us from these unsafe conditions and restore our health and dignity.
We demand an investigation into these unsafe conditions and urgent measures to make our barracks livable. We are also reaching out to media outlets and advocacy organizations to amplify our voices.
Your support can make a difference. Sign this petition to ensure that U.S. Army Rangers receive the safe living conditions we deserve.
