Dear Mike,
Last week I shared a few things past attendees wrote on their evaluations. Today I want to zoom in on one, from Michelle Li, who runs Rocket Logistics (an Amazon Delivery Service Partner):
"Structure makes all the difference!"
She's talking about entity structure — which LLC, which S-corp, which trust holds what, and how they're stacked. Almost nobody thinks about this until it costs them money, and by then it's often too late to fix cleanly.
Here's the pattern I see at every Bootcamp: someone walks in with a business that's throwing off good income, a rental property or two, maybe some equipment, maybe a spouse who also runs something. They've got an LLC somewhere. They think they're "structured."
Then we walk through what that structure actually does — for taxes, for asset protection, for what happens when they sell, for what happens when they die. And within the first afternoon, they realize the structure they have was built for the business they had three years ago, not the one they're running now.
That's the "aha" moment. It shows up in different ways in the evaluations:
- "My current entity may not be correct" — Anonymous
- "Learning the ins & outs of trusts & structuring" — Whitney Marciniak
- "Using entities and which to use for what" — Curtis
- "Cost segregation, incorrect structure for real estate property" — Tanya Luckett, Trutech Logistics
By the end of the 2.5 days, you know exactly what needs to change and in what order. Doug and I don't just tell you the answers — we walk you through how to think about the decisions so you can keep making them as your business grows.
The next Bootcamp is October 5–7 in Tempe.
