Gilbert Aguirre, a dedicated firefighter with United Goodyear Firefighters L4005, has been courageously battling chronic myeloid leukemia for the past 8 years. In the face of this challenging journey, he now faces another adversary: CopperPoint Insurance. Despite Arizona law recognizing leukemia as a presumptive work-related cancer, CopperPoint Insurance shockingly denies Gilbert's claims, arguing that "chronic" leukemia is somehow distinct from leukemia. Parsing words of legislation to avoid providing coverage is unacceptable and puts profits over people. Gilbert and his family are in a legal battle with CopperPoint Insurance, adding an unnecessary layer of stress to an already challenging situation.
