Sign now with a click To the President of the United States and Members of Congress: We, the undersigned, call on the U.S. government to immediately reconsider and eliminate excessive tariffs on imports from all nations, including but not limited to China, Japan, Mexico, Canada, and the European Union. These tariffs do not function as taxes on foreign governments or businesses; instead, they are a direct financial burden on American consumers and business owners, driving up costs and reducing competitiveness.   Why This Matters: 1. Increased Prices for Americans – Tariffs act as a hidden tax, raising the cost of goods for everyday Americans, from essential products to luxury items. 2. Harm to American Businesses – Small businesses, manufacturers, and retailers struggle with higher costs, which are either passed to consumers or result in layoffs and closures. 3. Drastic Cost Increases for Raw Materials & Products – Any raw materials or products sourced from outside the U.S. are directly increasing in price by the amount of the tariffs, which in some cases are reciprocal and up to 54%. These excessive tariffs leave business owners with no choice but to either absorb the loss or pass it on to consumers. 4. Weakened Global Trade Relationships – Retaliatory tariffs from other countries harm American exports, reducing opportunities for growth. 5. Contradicts Promises to Support the American Economy – If the goal is to strengthen America's economy, then burdening U.S. citizens and businesses with tariffs that only increase government revenue contradicts that mission.   Our Demand: We urge the U.S. government to immediately: Reverse or significantly reduce tariffs that harm American businesses and consumers. Establish a transparent process for reviewing tariff policies based on economic impact, rather than political strategy. Work with global trade partners to establish fair agreements that do not penalize American businesses and workers.
