The U.S. government has made an egregious and horrific mistake, one that cannot be ignored.
Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia, a loving father and hardworking member of his community, was wrongfully deported and thrown into El Salvador's most notorious prison despite having legal protections barring his removal.
This is not just a clerical error, it is a life on the line.
The government has admitted their mistake. They knew he could not be legally deported. Yet instead of working to right this wrong, they now claim they are powerless to act.
This is unacceptable.
The United States has the diplomatic tools, the legal avenues, and the moral obligation to secure his return. We cannot stand by while our government washes its hands of responsibility for a mistake that may cost a man his life.
Kilmar's five-year-old child should not have to grow up without a father because of bureaucratic incompetence.
His family should not have to beg for his freedom while the U.S. government refuses to act. We call on the federal government to use every diplomatic channel, every legal recourse, and every ounce of its influence to bring him home now.
