I survived a crash that killed 9

I'm constantly overwhelmed by flashbacks from the day I almost died. I can still see the flames, and hear my dog squealing. My mind keeps playing back the moment I realized that my dog and I would die if I didn't muster the strength to escape my car.

But I will never forget as long as I live the weeping people nearby yelling "the babies" as they witnessed the lifeless bodies of children in the street. All of this, because of one reckless driver.

I am the sole survivor of a crash that killed 9 people, including 7 members of one family, 4 of them children. The person responsible for the crash was driving 103 mph in a 35 mph zone. He had a long history of speeding tickets, DUIs and license suspensions. He could have been stopped if Nevada had required reckless drivers like him to install a simple technology to prevent them from exceeding the local speed limit.

Join me in demanding that reckless drivers across the country be required to install common sense anti-speeding technology to prevent more deaths and serious injuries.

Studies have shown that super speeders are responsible for a disproportionate number of traffic deaths and injuries. While I'm grateful to have survived, the car crash I was in left me with permanent damage. I went from being extremely athletic to relying on my family and assistance devices for help with daily living activities.

Intelligent Speed Assistance (ISA) is already being used on many commercial fleets and all across Europe. Several states including Virginia, Washington, New York, Maryland, Georgia, and California are considering requiring it for reckless drivers – but we need it in every state.

Without anti-speeding technology, reckless drivers will continue to risk people's lives on the roads. Too many have died and been injured already! Enough is enough – please join me and sign to keep the roads safe for everyone.
