I am a Cuban doctor living in exile in the United States because I refused to work for the communist dictatorship.
Hundreds of other Cuban freedom-fighters like me fled to the U.S. to escape persecution from the communist regime. But the U.S. government is threatening to deport us because of our uncertain legal status. One of us was detained for deportation just a few days ago.
Deportation back to Cuba means imprisonment, torture, or even death. That's why we're asking the Trump Administration to protect Cuban political refugees fighting communism from deportation. Please sign our petition and protect our peaceful struggle for freedom – our lives depend on it.
As a doctor, I witnessed firsthand how the Cuban regime uses medicine as a tool of political control. Doctors are monitored, blackmailed, and sent on missions under harsh conditions while the ruling communist elite live in privilege. I refused to bend to their control.
While exiled here in the U.S., I and my fellow freedom-fighters are fighting everyday for a democratic Cuba. We face serious accusations of "cyber terrorism" and treason back home, simply for denouncing human rights violations and advocating for freedom online.
But many of us are also trapped in legal immigration limbo in the United States. Some of us don't have a court date yet. Others like myself are scheduled for asylum hearings years from now.
We don't have years to wait. Sending us back to Cuba would be a victory for the communist regime and a death sentence for those of us fighting to end it.
That's why we're asking the United States to announce it will proudly protect members of our movement as political refugees fighting for a free Cuba.
Please sign our petition and help us in our fight for freedom.
